Original Unnamed Ship 1 by Mallacore Original Unnamed Ship 1 by Mallacore
It's been awhile since I had a chance to do any modeling and to get back into the feeling for it I started an original design. Along with the ship I'm also going to be doing a number of interior areas as I go since it's one area of modeling that I have not done much work in.

Enjoy.

Very nice design like others have said you can defiantly see the Sulaco in it.
I think it looks set to be a good bulk haler. With what looks to be a large docking collar on the prow seems ideal for a large ship to dock on a goods transfer station.

I love the Banding up the sides on the front section very nice effect adds quit allot to the over all look of the ship

Is this just for your own design or something that will be related to Stargate? Its good to see your 3D work again.

Nice! The top model reminds me of the Colonial Marine ship from Aliens.

The sulaco was a large influence on this design so good eyes for spotting that.

Thanks. :)

Can't wait to see the final piece!

So, how big is this beast in reality (or, its reality)?

Looks great so far! You should do a tutorial on details. Every time I try to make a really detailed ship it just turns into a big N-gon mess.

Yeah at most the ship is about 3-5% done so it's hard to tell what it will fully be like.

A nice bit of work. It has the feel of something either from Babylon 5 or from Aliens (it reminds me of the marine carrier, the Saluco).

Funny that you said that since the Saluco is one of the bases for this ship.

kinda reminds me of those command carriers from Robotech when I look at the external design.

Very nice work on the hallway design. Can't wait to see the final product!

Thanks. So far the ship is about 5% modeled while the modeling on the hallway is finished (not counting textures)

As for interior stuff I'll be starting the engine room next.

Well I'm not going to the extreme of doing every hallway and such, just a few key areas.

The ship I want to do is small 3-4 levels - 'a small' transport ship of sorts...

Yeah that's not to bad to do but when you have 20 or more decks then it becomes a different story. :)

So far I have not decided on if I will make it a warship or not but it will have some kind of armaments.

:icondjomally:

i would say you should go for the Non-warship but of course any vessel traveling through uncharted systems
should definitely have Defense capabilities, if you ask me the Ship looks more like a Scientific vessel much like my I.S.A Kelso. but that's just me lol. im sure no matter what the ship ends up being, its still going to look amazing

I was leaning towards an long range explore ships.

Like you said it will still have a minimal armament.

ALong the lines of a LRE Ship it works and I also can see this as being a military Courier ship for when sensitive data/orders are needed to be sent without the use of standard comm. channels!

I use lightwave and it is about 700-1000mb in size and the models can be from 10kb all the way up to 100+Mb depending on detail and texture settings.

Wow this is really good! blows any of my stuff away! This is in no way a "rusty" work its great!

I really like how the engine is set up. Also the extra detail in the front along the sides is a great touch to break up the ship a bit more.
