I'm the kind of person who believes if you want to give something a feeling of life then it all comes from the small details.

Thanks.

.001 % of that mesh would take a week for my pc just to shut down normally.
Love your take on the stargate franchise
Now is Destiny the ugliest spaceship commissioned by MGM?

Nah - I didn't like it at all ;P I LOVED it! Nice back-story as well in the text area  I am finally able to get back into doing some 3D work here soon, been away from it for so long from caring for my Mom and work :( Not sure I remember how to turn my 3D program on

yeah I wanted to do something original and flesh it out.

I have been in the same boat with work. I have almost no free time right now. On the bright side 3d is like riding a bike, once you start it all comes back to you.

Wow... I hesitate to imagine how long it must have taken to assemble all those elements and render them, even with a fast system!

It was not as bad as I thought it would be. For each image of the city I did it took about 40min to an hour to render out.

Looks great! :D

What are the two giant rings though? :?
Reply
:iconmallacore:
Mallacore Featured By Owner Sep 17, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
They are part of the matter forges. Basically asteroid chucks are loaded in and held inside an anti-gravity ring while they are broke down into smaller parts for processing.

Did you design the planet yourself? (concept and model) It stands out against all the artificial planets in existance :D (It reminded me of a giant bomb at first glance, but when when I looked closer, I could begin to imagine each slab on it being full of buildings.)

:iconmallacore:
Mallacore Featured By Owner Sep 17, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
It all came from my twisted imagination. If I had more time I also wanted to model smaller slabs that would sit on the larger ones giving the planet a more dense look.

:iconvarsaigen:
varsaigen Featured By Owner Sep 18, 2010
well, one never knows! The planet is still expanding to create other city slabs. Maybe one day, it could be of such desired density! :P

The galaxy's largest planet Oo

wow! you respond quickly! Oo That wasn't even 30 seconds! :O

Now that is a new way of mining if ever I heard one! Oo I like it! :D (I'd like to see it during operating hours. :3 Sounds awesome :D)

Nah not so new, I've heard it in at least one other place, check out deadspace

Deadspace had giant cables to rip the planet apart, not catch asteroids and obliterate them in a suspended enviroment. :/

:iconleonick:
Leonick Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2010
Oh yes the did, there are parts of the game where your in areas where they hold big rock pieces in a anti gravity environment to mine them :P
Reply
:iconvarsaigen:
varsaigen Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2010
huh. I never saw them then. :/ I should take a look.

:iconleonick:
Leonick Featured By Owner Sep 19, 2010
Well, it's there :P at least once your in a big room with no gravity, on one side there is a big rock being mined suspended in a big hole with half the rock in the ship and half the rock outside...

Don't remember how far in and what you were doing there but it's there :P

briliant piece dude...definatly has that megacorpoation feel with its straight lines and symetry..and the artficial planet is quite a interesting design
also dunno if this is set in the sg universe or not, but the architecture sorta is a good combination of what terran/ancient buildings might look like

one thing though..on the map part, is the blue ball a planet or star?...and the artificial planet is the capital planet
Reply
:iconmallacore:
Mallacore Featured By Owner Sep 17, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
It is set inside it's own original universe.

The blue ball is the star.
